"For all intents and purposes, we're there," Hamonic's agent, Craig Oster, told Islanders Point Blank. "We completed some of the work before the Memorial Cup and then took a break. We didn't want there to be any distractions for Travis. Now we're back at it and you should hear something in the next few days." Many have predicted that the Islanders will send Hamonic directly to the NHL this upcoming season; however his agent was a little more cautious. "He's a great kid and a great prospect who you can be confident will get the most out of his talent. He cares so much and has that drive to succeed," said Oster. "I just don't know if he's a guy anyone expects to play right away. Travis will be the first to admit he still has a lot to learn."

Yesterday the Islanders did something they have not done it 37 years, make a trade with the Rangers. The unspeakable act against nature sent prospect Jyri Niemi in return for the Rangers 6th round pick in the NHL Draft in June. The last time these two teams made a trade was 1972.

Its' been two days since Islanders canceled their training camp trip to China, a trip that received mixed reviews from fans when originally announced. Since then the details surrounding the cancellation have made the whole thing stranger and mini PR nightmare. However the Islanders can rectify a bad situation to a good one. For the past several years I've heard grumbling about how far away the Islanders training camp is compared to other teams. This year the Islanders should reward their fans with a training camp on Long Island at Nassau Coliseum or Ice Works. Allow it to be open to the public and allow fans a first rate fan fest of some sort. All of which is not a lot to ask for.

Montreal has been shut out both games this series by a combined score of 9-0. Remember, the Canadiens came back from series deficits against defending champion Pittsburgh and Presidents Trophy winning Washington. The game will be on Versus/CBC at 7pm Eastern.

It was several months ago that IHB columnist, Dave, explored the possibility of the Isles moving to queens adjacent to Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, and several months ago Queens politicians began attempts to start wooing the Islanders out of Nassau. Well another twist has been added to an already chaotic situation, The Hockey News is reporting that Jeff Wilpon Owner of the New York Mets could be waiting in the wings to purchase the Islanders from Charles Wang and move them to queens.

Puck Daddy quoted several past articles that explained why the move would make sense, including a portion of an article published a year ago by New York Sports scene writer, Joe MacDonald, and a Daily news Article about the Queens Chamber of Commerce attempts to publicly woo the Isles from October.

There is nothing significant, other than the words of one Hockey writer, to suggest that Wilpon would purchase the team or that the Islanders are considering a move to queens. But no one can dispute how much sense a move to the New York City Borough.

2010 IIHF World Championship: Team USA http://www.islandershockeyblog.com/2010-articles/may/2010-iihf-world-championship-team-usa.html http://www.islandershockeyblog.com/2010-articles/may/2010-iihf-world-championship-team-usa.html With everyone and their mother covering the Stanley Cup Playoffs, I thought I'd take IHB in a different direction. Friday May 7, marks the begging of IIHF World Championships in Germany. An event that should be a big deal to Islanders fans since Jack Hillen and Kyle Okposo will both be representing the United States. As well as having Scott Gordon lead the Charge for the American team, since he will be head coach of team USA. With all that being said, we'll look into the upcoming World Championships and the team that will be representing America.

Starting off with some trivial information about the World Championship, this years tournament will be held in Germany. The two main venues will be SAP Arena in the City of Mannheim, opened recently in 2005 and home to the Mannheim Adler of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), and LanXess Arena in Cologne, Europe's Largest and most modern arena, seating up to 20,000 fans. Along with the opening game of the tournament being held in Gelsenkirchen at The VELTINS-Arena, home of FC Shalke 04 and a stadium that seats 61,673 fans.

-The official Mascot for the tournament is "Urmel auf dem Eis." Urmel also was the mascot for the DEB, whatever that is, and the German national ice hockey team.

-The official Campaign is Germany on Ice.

-The official song is Stuck on Replay by Scooter. A very Euro dance beat and odd choice for a hockey tournament, however it does make you want to fist pump like you were a cast member of Jersey Shore and do crazy leg dances.

Tournament Grouping

Group A: Russia, Belarus, Slovakia, Kazakhstan
Group B: Canada, Switzerland, Latvia, Italy
