The Islanders have traded David Toews, younger brother of NHL star Jonathan Toews, to the Chicago Blackhawks for future considerations this afternoon.
The Islanders selected Toews 66th overall in 2008 NHL Entry draft. He played two season at the University of North Dakota before joining the Brandon Wheat Kings of the AHL last season. There the Winnipeg native scored 20 goals and 28 assists for 48 points in 60 games.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Toews will be placed on the Blackhawks roster for the 2011 Toronto Maple Leafs rookie tournament that will take place this weekend in Oshawa.
In return for David Toews the Islanders will receive future considerations.
