Madison Square Garden will host two big NHL rivals tonight when the Islanders visit the Rangers.
The Rangers have won three of the four games in the season series so far this year, with three of the games being high scoring. The Islanders won the first meeting between these two teams early in the season but have lost three in a row and hope to end that streak tonight.
For the Islanders, they're chasing this Rangers team and is hoping to keep their slim playoff hopes alive tonight by beating the team on the bubble. The Rangers, however, are looking to gain ground on the ninth seeded Carolina Hurricanes while also not losing sight of the seventh place Buffalo Sabres.
The Islanders are coming off a disappointing overtime loss against the New Jersey Devils over the weekend while the Rangers are riding a high after pulling off a big win in a shootout over the San Jose Sharks.
These two teams will play the final game of their season series on the final day of March. Puck drops at 7pm.
Other key games in the race for the postseason tonight are Carolina at Buffalo, Los Angeles at Nashville, San Jose at Dallas and Phoenix at Calgary.
