Why This Is Going To Be A Good Season... | September

Since training camp is coming up shortly, this is the perfect time to discuss why this upcoming season is going to be a good one. So I should start off with the improved Defense. Adding James Wisniewski is a big help to our blue line this year. With his ability to play in almost all defensive areas, this is going to be a great improvement, along with Wisniewski helping out Streit. Also, don't forget the signings of Mark Eaton and Milan Jurcina. They're both big guys who are good at shot blocking, and they can use their body to get physical.

Now, let's take a look at the Forwards. Newly signed PA Parenteau had some production in the AHL, and he didn't really get a chance in the NHL last year with the Rangers. He's great in shootouts, and some say he may end up like another Tambellini, but this isn't the case. Look at Schremp. We claimed him off waivers last season, we thought he wasn't going to produce anything, and look at him now.

Also, we added some guys to stick up for the younger guys. We resigned Gillies, and Sim. Sim is resigned to a two way contract, so that means he can either play on the Island or in Bridgeport. I wouldn't call him an enforcer, as he can bang in a few goals here and there.

Wouldn't it be cool to see Konopka and Gillies on a line? That most likely will be the case as Konopka had quite amount of penalty minutes last season. We shall see. We may even see Weight on a line with them.

So, this team not only has improvements in Defense, but also in their 4th line. With the signings of these players, the Islanders aren't going to look like a little team anymore, now they're a team with size and will do anything to stick up for their teammates.

Also, don't forget the camp invites. As you know, the Isles sent letters to players agents stating they can come tryout with the Isles during training camp. We should hopefully know in the next few days who accepted to tryout.
