Newly acquired and signed defenseman James Wisniewski has been suspended by the NHL for his innapropriate gesture to Sean Avery against the New York Rangers on Monday.

The thing is, Avery was rumored to have done the same exact thing to Wisniewski in the pre game warm ups before the game. Eklund said that the league will be looking into it. I personally don't agree with this suspension, one game tops. But I guess the league viewed it in a different manner.

Here is part of the press release on the Islanders Offical Website:

New York Islanders defenseman James Wisniewski has been given a two-game-suspension from the National Hockey League for his actions involving an altercation in the Islanders game on Monday afternoon against the New York Rangers

I guess this will give either Jack Hillen or Bruno Gervais an opportunity to make their season debut as Wisniewski will not play tomorrow vs the Capitals and Friday vs the Penguins.

A few notes for the Islanders Capitals game tommorrow

-John Tavares did not travel with the team to face the Caps

- Rick DiPietro did not practice today, I assume as a schedualed day off

- The game will air on Versus tommorrow at 7 pm

Let's see if the undefeated Islanders in regulation can take on the Caps for the win...
