Contrary to the popular rumor that Tampa Bay Lighting center Steven Stamkos would grace the cover of EA Sports’ new NHL hockey video game, the company has now announced that the Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews will be the game’s cover athlete. This will be the second year that a Blackhawk will appear on the game’s cover – NHL 10 featured Patrick Kane. The Blackhawks captain told IGN:
"It's been an amazing year for me and the team, and it's nice to end it by being a part of a game I played growing up. The NHL games have always been great, so it's an honor for me to be a part of the EA Sports family."
Another interesting fact about this game is that it will be unrivaled in its release; 2K Sports will only be releasing NHL 2K11 for the Nintendo Wii. The game is slated to hit the shelves September 14th.
